Survival Campout: Building a Fire & Grilling Skewers by the Lake!

Gathering dry twigs and birch bark near the lake shore, we built a careful teepee fire. Striking a match, the flame caught, crackling to life with satisfying pops. As dusk painted the water gold, we threaded chunks of marinated chicken and colorful veggies onto green sticks. Holding the skewers over the glowing embers—not the roaring flames—we rotated them slowly. The scent of woodsmoke and sizzling food mingled perfectly. Juicy, char-kissed skewers, cooked over our own fire by the quiet lake, tasted like pure wilderness victory. Simple, primal, and utterly delicious!
