My Biggest Regret with the Cabin Build + Bench DIY / Outsider Cabin Build

Building my cabin was a dream come true, but my biggest regret was rushing the bench DIY project. In eagerness to finish, I skipped proper planning and used untreated wood. Months later, it warped and cracked under the elements. As an outsider tackling this build alone, I learned that corners cut now mean more work later. The bench, meant to last years, barely made one season. It taught me patience and the value of doing things right the first time. Still love the cabin, but every glance at that bench reminds me—slow down, prepare well, and respect the craft.
