Building an Underground Bunker for Winter: Bushcraft Skills

Using core bushcraft skills, I crafted a winter survival bunker. First, I selected a dry, south-facing slope with good drainage, avoiding flood zones. Digging deep below the frost line conserved vital heat. Walls were shored with interwoven greenwood poles and packed earth for insulation and stability. A compacted earth floor minimized cold seepage. The entrance, oriented away from prevailing winds, featured a tight-fitting, insulated door made from layered bark and moss. Ventilation was critical—a small, screened pipe ensured airflow without major heat loss. Finally, I camouflaged the roof with natural debris, blending it seamlessly into the landscape for concealment and added insulation against the biting cold.
